THE PROHIBITION OF EMPLOYMENT AS MANUAL SCAVENGERS AND THEIR REHABILITATION ACT, 2013

Various directives have been issued by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department through the government resolution dated 7.8.2015 for the effective implementation of the aforementioned Act in the state.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Social Welfare has been designated as the nodal officer for the implementation of the said Act.
Subsequently, in line with the implementation of the said Act and rules, competent authorities have been declared in rural and urban areas through the government resolution dated 11.6.2019.
Furthermore, a special management cell has been established to implement the related law and the order given by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Writ Petition No. 583/2003 on 27.3.2014.
As per the notification dated 31 July 2019, a state-level monitoring committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Additionally, vigilance committees have been formed at the district and sub-divisional levels for the effective implementation, coordination, and supervision of the related law.
