THE PROHIBITION OF EMPLOYMENT AS MANUAL SCAVENGERS AND THEIR REHABILITATION ACT, 2013
- Various directives have been issued by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department through the government resolution dated 7.8.2015 for the effective implementation of the aforementioned Act in the state.
- Additionally, the Commissioner of Social Welfare has been designated as the nodal officer for the implementation of the said Act.
- Subsequently, in line with the implementation of the said Act and rules, competent authorities have been declared in rural and urban areas through the government resolution dated 11.6.2019.
- Furthermore, a special management cell has been established to implement the related law and the order given by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Writ Petition No. 583/2003 on 27.3.2014.
- As per the notification dated 31 July 2019, a state-level monitoring committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Additionally, vigilance committees have been formed at the district and sub-divisional levels for the effective implementation, coordination, and supervision of the related law.
