Ramai Awas Yojana (Rural & Urban)
Scheme Information:
The state government has implemented the ‘Ramai Awas Yojana’ since 2010-11 to provide permanent housing to individuals/families from Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities in rural and urban areas. A brief overview of the scheme is as follows:
Eligibility Criteria:
- The beneficiary must belong to the Scheduled Castes / Neo-Buddhist category.
- The beneficiary must have resided in Maharashtra for at least 15 years.
- The benefit of the scheme is provided to only one person per family.
- The beneficiary must own a plot of land or a temporary house.
- The beneficiary should not have availed benefits from any other housing scheme previously.
- The annual income limit for the beneficiary’s family should be up to ₹1.20 lakh for rural areas and up to ₹3.00 lakh for urban areas.
- The beneficiary should be outside the priority list criteria of the Social, Economic, and Caste Census-2011 (SEC-2011).
Required Documents:
- One of the following: 7/12 extract, property registration document (Property Registered Card), or extract from the property register in the Gram Panchayat.
- One of the following: house tax, water tax, or electricity bill.
- Caste certificate issued by a competent authority.
- Income certificate issued by a competent authority.
- Extract of names from the voter list as of 01/01/1995.
- Election voter ID card.
- Ration card.
- Certificate from the Sarpanch / Talathi.
- Copy of the receipt for property tax paid to the Municipal Corporation / Municipality.
Note: According to the Government Resolution No. VISAA-2015/PR. NO. 85/CONSTRUCTION, dated March 15, 2016, the requirement to submit the 7/12 extract has been relaxed for beneficiaries who have encroached on government, municipal, local self-government, MMRDA, or government enterprise land and have been residing there as of 01/01/1995, with their house/ residence on that land and are protected as slum dwellers.
Beneficiary Selection Procedure:
Rural Areas:
The selection of beneficiaries is done through the Gram Sabha. However, the final selection of Scheduled Caste beneficiaries chosen by the Gram Sabha is carried out by the House Construction Committee established under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, for rural areas.
Urban Areas:
For urban areas, the selection of beneficiaries is done by the House Construction Committee established under the chairmanship of the Commissioner for Municipal Corporation areas and the District Collector for Municipal Council/Nagar Panchayat areas.
Nature of Benefits:
- Rural Areas: ₹1.32 lakh (including ₹12,000 for toilet construction)
- Hilly/Naxal-affected Areas: ₹1.42 lakh (including ₹12,000 for toilet construction)
- Municipal Council/Nagar Parishad: ₹2.50 lakh
- Municipal Corporation: ₹2.50 lakh
