Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corporation, Mumbai
Establishment
- The Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corporation was established on July 10, 1978, under the Companies Act of 1956, with the primary objective of rapidly improving the economic status of economically weaker families among the Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities in Maharashtra.
Objectives
- To plan, operate, assist, advise, support, provide financial assistance, protect, and undertake initiatives for the upliftment and welfare of the backward classes through agricultural development programs, marketing of agricultural products, processing, supply and storage, small industries, building construction, transportation, and other businesses or programs such as medical, engineering, agriculture, etc., either independently or in collaboration with the government, statutory bodies, companies, partnership firms, individuals, or through such organizations and agencies.
- To provide capital, loans, materials, and technical and managerial assistance for starting work, business, trade, or activities to develop and improve the economic status/methods of the backward classes and make them self-sufficient.
- To enter into agreements and accept orders from the Government of India, state governments, statutory boards, companies, partnership firms, individuals, or organizations for the production of agricultural products, agricultural equipment, goods, and all kinds of materials, and to arrange for sub-contracts and orders for backward class individuals to carry out such work, or to register demands from backward class individuals in this regard, or to produce, manufacture, assemble, or supply such agricultural products, goods, materials, or parts thereof, and to provide services or arrange for processing in this regard, or to seek managerial assistance as necessary for the proper execution of such contracts and orders, and to keep such produced, manufactured, assembled, and supplied agricultural products, goods, materials, and items.
- To provide loans or guarantees or recommend the same to backward class individuals who have been given sub-contracts or orders, or to provide capital for land acquisition, production, setting up plants (factories), conversion or expansion, or to arrange for financing for the acquisition of materials, facilities, machinery, supplies, or goods, or to supply working capital for the production of goods, materials, supplies, or items under contracts made with the government or this corporation.
Goals
- Through the corporation, various schemes are implemented to provide financial plans for self-employment and training to economically weaker individuals and those living below the poverty line from Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities, including dependents of sanitation workers, to uplift their standard of living.
