Scheme to Provide Iron Sheet Stalls to Cobbler Workers

State Sponsored Scheme

• This scheme was initiated in the year 1997.
• Since the year 2006-2007, this scheme has been implemented through the Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Charmakar Development Corporation.

Objective of the Scheme

• In Maharashtra, cobblers from the Scheduled Castes category repair footwear by sitting on the roadside in the sun and rain. To protect these workers from the naelements and to improve their economic status, 100% grant-based iron sheet stalls are provided to cobbler workers.

Terms and Conditions of the Scheme

• The applicant/beneficiary must be a cobbler worker from the Scheduled Castes.

Nature of Benefits

• Iron sheet stalls are provided free of cost.
• A grant of Rs. 500/- is provided for the purchase of materials.
